Deacon Dana Nearmyer

Department: Evangelization and Catechesis
Deacon Dana Nearmyer heads up the Evangelization Division for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. His role with Archdiocese spans 21 counties in Kansas and serves Catholic evangelization leaders. Additionally, he and his wife helped found Camp Tekakwitha in 1998 and Prairie Star Ranch in 2000. They delight in assembling profession educators, youth ministers and deeply faithful college age staff into a team that serves around 1800 campers each summer. His wife Deborah helped found St. James Academy in Lenexa.

Deacon Dana received an English and Education degree from Ottawa University, and then a master’s degree in education from MId-America Nazarene University. He was ordained in 2011 after completing diaconal studies at St. Meinrad’s Seminary. He is an adjunct instructor at Benedictine College in New Evangelization and Catechesis and oversees internships in that program. Dcn. Dana, Deborah and their five kids have a passion for growing Catholic culture.
